Ron Libby (Founding Pastor)

Pastor Ron Libby was born August 3, 1950, and grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. He moved to Annapolis, MD with his family, where he later met and married his wife Linda. In the Christmas season of 1971, they both had a powerful conversion experienced of receiving the Holy Ghost and being baptized in Jesus Name. Two years later, on February 18th, 1974, they launched a new church plant in Gaithersburg/Rockville, Maryland with their two children, Sean and Joy. Their first Easter service enjoyed 21 people in attendance.

Pastor Libby has held and served many administrative offices in the United Pentecostal Church International. From 1974 to the present, Pastor Libby has served as: Sunday School Secretary, Sunday School Director, Home Missions Director, District Presbyter, District Superintendent and Regional North East Executive Presbyter.Through these elected services, and while continuing to pastor a growing and vibrant church, Pastor Libby felt and saw the need to establish a place of safety and comfort for ministers and their wives. Sometimes a minister needs to talk to someone. Sometimes a minister needs to receive the same comfort they pour out on a daily basis. This program he aptly named, “Points of Refuge”, and was created to give “Care to the Caregiver”. This program is completely confidential and was so successful, UPCI headquarters now officially offers it to all ministers and wives. It is available to active, retired ministers, and stretches to the foreign field.

These past 40 years Pastor Libby has seen and experienced many changes. Four building projects, with the last one requiring a relocation of the entire congregation to a new facility and property, a Doctorate of Divinity from St Thomas Christian College and considerable time travelling both locally, nationally and globally.

In 2016 Pastor Libby decided to retire as Senior Pastor of Christian Life Center. In May of that year, a Pastoral election was held. This resulted in Pastor Sean Libby succeeding Pastor Libby as Senior Pastor. "Passing of the Mantel" services were held in December 2016.

Wherever he goes, lives are touched and changed through crusades, leadership training, seminars, teaching, preaching or simply “one on one”. His character, vision and self-sacrifice has proven to be beyond measure. Truly, he is a man driven by a passion for God.
